DWIS brings real conversations, practical tools, and powerful representation to college campuses. From confidence-building workshops to career navigation panels, these sessions are designed to meet Women in STEM(and students) where they are, and help them level up.

• A panel-style session featuring women engineers sharing their paths and lessons learned

Dear Women in STEM Virtual Academy
Offering Schedule: This workshop series offers a comprehensive roadmap for Women in STEM. This workshop series will be structured as a curriculum modeled after university courses(e.g., STEM 1001 to STEM 3001), with each level representing different stages in a STEM career journey, creating a cohesive learning experience. These courses will only be offered once or twice a year.
DWIS: Introductory Course
Objective: Help students and early-career professionals understand how to enter STEM and choose the right path for them.
Topics Covered:
Technical vs Non-Technical Career Paths: Understanding the difference between technical roles (engineering, research) and non-technical roles (STEM communication, project management).
Navigating Failure: How to learn from setbacks and push forward.
Building Confidence: Strategies to build self-belief and resilience in male-dominated spaces.
“My STEM Journey”: Personal storytelling from the founder or guest speakers sharing their STEM journeys.
DWIS: STEM 1001 ESSENTIALS OF A STEM DEGREE
Objective: Equip students with foundational knowledge and strategies for succeeding in STEM programs.
Topics Covered:
Foundation of STEM: Overview of the skills and knowledge required to enter STEM fields.
Academic Strategy: Tips and techniques for excelling in STEM courses, time management, and exam prep.
Exploring STEM Fields: A deep dive into different STEM disciplines (engineering, life sciences, technology, etc.).
Internships & Co-ops: The importance of internships, co-ops, and practical experience to build your resume and gain exposure.
DWIS: STEM 2001 THE JOB SEARCH PROCESS
Objective: Provide students and recent graduates with tools to navigate the job search process and secure positions in the STEM industry.
Topics Covered:
Resume Building: How to structure your resume and tailor it for different jobs.
Interviewing Techniques: Preparation tips for both technical and behavioral interviews.
Cold Emailing: How to reach out to potential employers, mentors, or contacts in the industry effectively.
ChatGPT for Success: Practical uses of AI tools for career-related tasks like drafting cover letters, mock interviews, and researching companies.
Networking: Building and maintaining professional relationships for career advancement.
DWIS: STEM 3001 NAVIGATING YOUR STEM CAREER
Objective: Guide professionals in navigating early career challenges, networking, and growth strategies.

Strategies for Success: Tips for gaining visibility, exceeding expectations, and navigating workplace dynamics.
